At our Heli Fun Fly this year, Wes showed up with something I had been wanting to see for quite some time. It is a Curtis Youngblood Stingray 3D quad. Wes is a super nice guy that was visiting our event from his home club in Coquitlam, BC. He was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time when the Stingray came up for sale and he was able to purchase it from its original owner. Even though this was one of his first few flights with it, Wes flew it awesome and you could tell it was going to be amazing when he had a chance to get used to it. Wes says it is very stable and lots of fun to fly. The Stingray has full collective pitch and is powered by a single (small) motor with one ESC running on 4s. The four props are driven by a single serpentine belt. There is a lot of clever tech in the Stingray that was designed by Curtis using a hybrid approach that combines a quad with a heli.
