Stretch marks are bands on your skin made up of parallel lines of scar tissue. They have a different feel from your normal skin and come in a variety of hues, including purple, red, brilliant pink, and grayish-silver. When you run your finger over them, you might notice a small ridge or indentation in addition to itchiness or pain. However, they are more of an aesthetic issue than a health risk.
