COVID-19 hit the countries of the Western Balkans hard. All six economiesׁlbania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbiaere in deep recessions in 2020. But the region is bouncing back in 2021 and expects a return to pre-crisis growth, although fragilities remain. With a return to growth, attention is shifting towards longer-term issues.Š
